Sun Seekers

The range of resorts and destinations that Tropical Sky provides certainly seem to chime with Irish tourists.  According to a 2008 survey by independent guide book publisher Lonely Planet, our favourite holiday destinations are:

1. United States

2.  Australia

3. New Zealand

4. Italy

5.  Thailand

6.  Spain

7. India

8. Greece

9. Canada

10. France

But, when we do holiday abroad more than 40% of us neglect to take out travel insurance.  New findings in a survey conducted in 2008 showed that the situation is still a cause for concern.  Only 57% of Irish tourists took out some form of travel insurance in 2008.  That still leaves 43% completely unprotected -  a worrying thought when you consider that  just over 2,300 people required emergency care last year while they were on holiday.
At Tropical Sky we don’t want anything to spoil your experience with us!  Making sure you have adequate insurance cover is something you can do to help yourself and give you complete peace of mind although booking through us is of course the other way of guaranteeing a perfect holiday experience!

Kings of The Wild Frontier

Written by No comments

Just as America is about to enter a new political era with the inauguration of its 44th President, how do you fancy rediscovering the beauty of the Western Frontier?

From glittering Las Vegas, the entertainment capital of the world, you’ll take in the spectacular scenery of Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks, tour Salt Lake City and climb into the mountains to Jackson for a real taste of the old west before viewing the splendours of Yellowstone National Park and the Little Bighorn national monument.  Tour the Black Hills and the Crazy Horse Memorial and visit Deadwood, see Mount Rushmore and Denver, the Mile High City.

No need to rough it in wagons though!  You’ll have a professional tour director throughout the trip and travel in deluxe coaches with reclining seats, restrooms and air conditioning using selected luxury hotels, all with en suite accommodation and all hotel charges and local taxes included.

Sepilok Orang Utan Sanctuary

Written by No comments

If you happen to think that Orang Utan (especially babies) are very likely the most endearing things you’ll ever see, then the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre is for you…

It was started in 1964 to look after orphaned baby Orang Utan and return them to the wild and is set in the Kabili-Sepilok Forest Reserve.   A video presentation explains everything about the centre’s work before you go on to enjoy feeding time with the younger Orang Utan.  The more mischievous ones may try to grab your camera or hat!  Call for a ranger, who will know how to handle a 200 pound primate!   Feeding time also attracts long-tailed macaques and they will lift anything that’s not nailed down, so steer clear of them.  Their capers are great fun to watch, but it does you good to remember that, no matter how circus-like the antics might be, you’re supporting a great cause as well as the sanctuary’s work. If you come to Borneo you shouldn’t miss it!
