First Contact With A Wild Orang Utan
Written by Tropical SkyThe Sukau Rainforest Lodge has a great deal to offer. Don’t’ be surprised if one of those features is a snake. We don’t have them in Ireland of course! But it’s not unusual to find Catsnakes lurking in plant pots only 20 feet from your room….
Don’t worry though, they’re only mildly venomous. A bite will make you ill but it won’t kill you!   A far more rewarding wildlife encounter is more usual. Our own Steve Garley was there recently. It was his last day, when one of the Lodge guides shouted that there was Orang Utan at the end of the boardwalk. Hurrying on to the end, he could just see some branches moving. Then slowly the movement came nearer and a mass of fur came swinging into sight. It was a juvenile male, and Steve got this superb shot of the Orang Utan gracefully moving from tree to tree. All this within 400 yards of the Sukau Rainforest Lodge – stunning!
